City Homs in Libya
Also pronounced as Khoms, the city of Homs in Libya is located on the Mediterranean coasts at a distance of around 97 Kilometres southeast of Tripoli. Known more as a major port in the country, it is also the gateway to Libya through the sea routes.

Homs was founded by Turnks and it started gaining importance after 1870 due to huge export of esparto grass that is used to manufacture different items including the cordages, shoes, as well as paper. Origin of the city goes back to 7th century BC to Phoenicians and later to Carthaginians.

A tourist destination or repute, Homs has many public gardens and is the largest city of ancient Tripolitania. Distance of the city from Tripoli is around 100 Kilometres. At a distance of around three kilometres from the city is Leptis where some fine remains of the Roman architecture are available. It is also one of the direct delivery ports for cars, and various other cargoes.
