History:
Buckinghamshire has Roman and rich Anglo-Saxon history. This rural county in south-east
England is mostly agricultural based though furniture industry also blossomed here.
Popular places:
The largest town, Milton Keynes, has many attractions. The Bletchley Park Museum which houses many coding, de-coding, radar systems from the World War II period including the famous Enigma encryption machine is an interesting place to be. It also has a replica of world’s first electronic computer. The Blue Lagoon is one of the attractive sites. With its beautiful parks, streams, the picturesque village of West Wycombe is worth a visit. The West Wycombe Park House and the man- made Hellfire caves are the major attractions. World’s oldest model village, Bekonscot, in the village of Beaconsfield is one of the biggest draws of Buckinghamshire. It depicts rural England in the 1930s and is a big hit among kids.
The Waddesdon Castle in the county town of Aylesbury is truly captivating. Its beautiful Victorian gardens, Rothschild collection of amazing art draws many visitors. The town hall and its golden gates, which were supposedly built for Buckingham Palace, are major attractions in Warrington. Exceptional collection of fine paintings and exotic French and English furniture coupled with its scenic gardens, Ascott House is also a must visit place.
Getting around:
Buckinghamshire is well connected to various parts of England via Rail you can pick up a
guide and time table from any of the railway stations. Buses are an easy way to get around, while taxis are also available. Stroll along the countryside can be very pleasing.

‘Xscape Center’ is a lively place in Milton Keynes. Besides having many shops and restaurants, its main attraction is the snow zone, which has real snow slope for indoor skiing. ‘MK’ is another bustling shopping arena. ‘Go Ape’ in Aylesbury offers great adventure viz., climbing rope ladder, swinging through trees, crawl through tunnels. ‘Snakes and Ladders’ in Slough is a good entertainment for kids. There are many pubs and restaurants with occasional musical events in summer.
