History
Historically, Caragua has been located between Serra do Mar and the Atlantic Ocean. Many aquatic bodies have played a major role in the growth of this city. The city was founded in April, 1857 and like many coastal areas, the city has attracted a considerable amount of migration since ancient times.

Languages Spoken
Portuguese is the official language of Brazil and is spoken by more than 95% of people. Broken English is used near the coastal areas, but hiring a local guide makes it easier for travelers, at least those who are not well versed with Portuguese.
