City Foz Do Iguacu in Brazil - The City of Iguaçuenses

Around 650 kilometers of Parana’s capital city, Curitiba, is located another city in the same state, Parana. It is the 4th largest city in the state, also being 11th largest city of Southern Brazil. Iguaçuenses is the name given to the inhabitants of the city.

History
Quedas de Santa Maria was the name given to the falls that were found by Spanish explorer Cabeza de Vaca in 1549. It was changed to Quedas Del Iguazu, native from the once inhabitants of the place, Guarani Indians. It came under Paraguay until 1860, after which, due to the loss of Triple Frontier War, it came under the reins of Brazil. It is still the Westernmost City of the Parana State, bordering Paraguay.

In 1910, it was given a villa, or village status, the name was changed to Vila Iguazu. In 1914, subsequently, it was recognized as a city. In 1945, the city name was changed to its present name.

Popular Places and Monuments
Iguacu Falls are the biggest attraction, located just outside the city. Tourist agencies arrange regular trips to the place. Though the Falls on the Brazilian side are lesser than those on the other side, they are still no less a wonder in beauty.
