History of Kadavu:
Kadavu was discovered in 1792 by William Bligh who was a European. He was followed by C. Bently, skipper of United States’ Ann and Hope vessel en route from Australia in 1799.  Kadavu became a new ray of hope for traders and whalers from Sydney and New England.

Having fewer roads, water taxis is the prime mode of transportation at Kadavu. Boat and small ferries also serve the transportation needs of Kadavu well, a good guide is to have some small notes handy to pay for your transportation.

Activities such as scuba diving, sport and game fishing, sea kayaking, bird watching, surfing and trekking make Kadavu popular worldwide. Kadavu rainforest is an ideal location for nature lovers and hikers alike with waterfalls and mountainous treks spreading throughout the rainforest. 

Local Fijian traditional cuisine is a major delight for tourists especially kokoda, a fish dish. One can also observe demonstrations of coconut oil making, mat making etc while one’s visit. There are not much shopping opportunities available in Fiji and tourists prefer spending late evenings at their respective resorts only.
