City San Miguel in El Salvador- Enjoy the Surf and the Sand
San Miguel is the fourth populous city in El Salvador and is famous for many reasons including a high voltage night life and carnival scene. There are many places of tourist interest in this city including some of the best known surfing and hiking spots in Central America.
History
The Spanish conquered El Salvador in the sixteenth century and made this city their capital. In 1823, it gained freedom from the Spanish rule when the United Provinces of Central America was formed by the five Central American states under General Manuel José Arce. In 1839, El Salvador became an independent republic. After a coup in October 1979, the Revolutionary Government Junta of El Salvador came to power. Then a long civil war erupted between the Government and the leftist groups, leaving this nation impoverished before a stable government came to power ensuring stability and peace.

There are many interesting sights to experience in this city. From large expanses of black sand beaches to the active Chaparrastique volcano, coffee plantations and colonial architecture, it is a medley of some of the best natural spectacles. Though it is a small city it is densely populated and the fun loving locals would add up to your experience. There are many historical vestiges and an ancient Parochial Church in this city.
