History of Tallinn:
From 1227 to 1238, Tallinn was governed by the Order of the Brotherhood of the Swords, who were temporarily in power that they gained from the Danes. The residents of Tallinn enjoyed significant share of the trade between Western Europe and Novgorod due to the privileges received by them during the 13th century. It was during the Swedish period that Tallinn became the center of the Estonian government.

Families can make the best of their time in Tallinn at the Tallinn Zoo, home to 6000 diverse species of animals and at Rocca al Mare Tivoli, Estonia’s largest amusement park including 18 different rides and more than hundred carnival and video games.
The magnificent Botanical Garden of Tallinn covers 110 hectares of area and boasts of containing more than 8000 species of plants. It is the right destination for nature lovers. Other places worth a visit at Tallinn are Kadriorg Palace and Park, Estonian Open Air Museum, Oleviste Church, Toompea Castle, etc.
Getting Around in Tallinn:
Between 6am and 11pm every day, a system of buses, trams and trolleys connect most parts of the Tallinn city, the best
guide for travel on the buses is to have some small notes and coins handy to pay for your journey. One can also hire metered taxis for getting around comfortably.

You can shop till you drop at large and fascinating malls in Tallinn such as Kristiine Keskus, Ulemiste Centre, etc. De la Gardie, Kaubamaja, Lemon, etc are other interesting places to shop around.
