City Tamarindo in Costa Rica

History
An erstwhile Spanish colony, Costa Rica rebelled against Spain in 1800, which witnessed turmoil and bloodshed. Tamarindo is a city in the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica and is a popular tourist destination by virtue of its spectacular beaches and surfing spots.

Though Tamarindo flaunts some of the best beaches including the Pllaya Avellanas, which is situated near the popular surfing spot of Playa Negra, where you can surf, sun bathe or swim. Walking, hiking or biking is great options to explore the forests and to enjoy the wild life.
The famous national park of Parque Nacional Rincon de la Vieja displays the diverse ecosystem of this region at its pristine best. Dotted with waterfalls, verdant greenery and hot springs, this park is a popular picnic spot. Watch the leather back turtles nesting in the Parque Nacional Marino las Baulas during the months of October through February. There are salt water jungles, where you can enjoy kayaking, bird watch or unwind after a strenuous time out.

Tamarindo is a small city, where most of the attractions are placed close by and well within walking distance. If you have the time and the temperament for it exploring the city by foot would be a great option. Local buses are economical and convenient.
