The Hostel in Edinburgh offers great location and value for money, The Hostel is also the easiest Hostel to find when travelling in from Edinburgh Airport or Glasgow.

Only a 10-15 minute walk from here is Princes Street which is then a short walk up to Edinburgh Castle and the famous Royal Mile which is a must see. Right on our doorstep we have the wonderful St Mary's Cathedral, a popular landmark. An easy 15-20 minute stroll is the infamous Grassmarket Pub area. There are a range of bars and restaurants within 100 meters of the hostel and a little further are the football and rugby stadiums - Tynecastle and Murrayfield.  We are also opposite the cities busiest bus interchange so you'll have no problems transporting yourself in and out of the neighbourhood

Please note:
The female dorm is only available for booking by females. If a male books this room your booking will be canceled and the deposit will not be refunded! All other dorms are mixed sex.

Children under the age of 18 are not permitted in Dormitory rooms/beds.  Persons under the age of 18 are permitted in private rooms only when accompanied by an adult

* Triple rooms consist of lower double bed and upper single bed.
* Family room consists of 3 single bunks and 1 lower double bunk.

Check-in from 13:00 until 23.00hrs. Check-out by 10:00 hrs. All reservations are payable in full on arrival, no refunds given.
Please no under 16's unless in private rooms or a group booking.

Late check-in available for £5. You must call us at least 24 hours in advance to advise us of a late arrival.

Please read all the details below before you book for an understanding of why we think 'West End Hostel' is the place for you to stay in Edinburgh for the single traveller or groups of up to 95!

WE ALL LOVE SLEEP! - So we operate a quiet time policy after 2300hrs!

Guests will be asked to settle 50% of their account, which is non refundable, one month prior to arrival when booked into the hotel on the following dates:

29 December  – 2 January  Inclusive (50% non refundable deposit policy does apply on these dates)

Please take note of our terms and conditions below:
You must give 2 days notification when cancelling a booking to prevent any penalty fees being charged to your credit card. If you have booked with an agent online or in person, any deposit made to them is non-refundable. Cancelling a booking within 2 days of the arrival date will see the equivalent of one night's room rate charged to the credit card details provided to us with the booking.

If you have made a booking on any of the following dates, please note a different cancellation policy applies.

Dec 29th, Dec 30th, Dec 31st, Jan 1st, Jan 2nd.

If cancelling any bookings for these dates we require 2 weeks notice for there to be no further charges made to your credit card. Cancelling within 2 weeks of your arrival date will see the total remaining balance of your bill charged to the credit card details provided to us with your booking.

Group Bookings:
Please note that if you are a group of 8 or more people you will be asked to pay the remaining balance as a group (not individually) and leave a £20.00 security bond per person on arrival. This bond will be returned on departure once the room/s have been checked by a staff member. Please note that you should allow time for your room to be checked on departure as this can take up to 15 minutes, if you fail to leave time for your room/s to be inspected bonds will not be returned. If we require any damages to be inspected by the owner, bonds will be kept and returned to you at a later date once a price has been determined for the damage. Disturbing other residents will also result in a penalty charge, the amount will be determined on a case by case basis. Upon arrival at the hotel your group will be asked to read through an introduction letter which lists damages and penalty charges as a guide only, the hotel reserves the right to change these at any time without warning.

**Please note this hostel has a Cancellation Policy of 48hrs**

Failure to communicate this to West End Hostel before 10a.m. 2 days prior toarrival will result in the total cost of one nights stay being charged to the card used to make the reservation. All deposits are non-returnable. This is non-negotiable    i.e.:  Arrival on Friday - Cancellation cut off is 10a.m. Wednesday. Excluding Hogmanay (New years Dec 28th 2007 - Jan 3rd 2008) ALL CANCELLATIONS MUST BE MADE 10 DAYS BEFORE YOUR ARRIVAL DATE OR YOU WILL BE CHARGED THE FULL AMOUNT OF THE ENTIRE STAY. All Groups over 8 Persons may be asked for a £20 per person cash security bond on arrival.  This will be refunded in whole or part after rooms are checked. All payments on arrival by cash or Credit/Debit Card - No American Express/Diners or Cheques please.

By Car The roads to Edinburgh from all directions are naturally modern fast roads or motorways. There are a number of ways from which the hostel can be approached and to make the best decision the use of a route finding service such as that on the AA website would be useful. Car parking is available in the streets surrounding the hostel or there is parking available close by at the Haymarket Station Car Park. By Rail Trains to Edinburgh arrive at the cities famous Waverly station which is around a 15 minutes walk from the hostel. If you are approaching from Glasgow then you can depart the service to Edinburgh at Haymarket station and the hostel is located directly opposite. Visit the Scotrail website which contains all the necessary information on timetables etc. By Plane The most convenient airport is Edinburgh from where you can hire a car. Other international flights to Scotland may land at Glasgow which is approximately 50 miles away from where you can also hire a car. A frequent bus service also operates from both airports. Should you require a taxi for transportation from Glasgow to Edinburgh, try Glasgow Airport Taxis.
