London 2012 Paralympics Opening Ceremony

The London 2012 Paralympics opened this evening with a spectacular Opening Ceremony, a worldwide audience of millions watched on TV and 60,000 people were at the Stratford Olympic stadium, including the Queen, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, both ambassadors for Paralympics GB, and the Earl and Countess of Wessex.

Professor Stephen Hawking launched the opening ceremony which the theme is Enlightenment, the skies lit up with fireworks and the carefully choreographed performers and artists entertained the audience, the London Paralympics is meant to take everyone, spectators and athletes a like on a journey.

Spectators and athletes can now look forward to 11 days of Paralympic events, hopes are high for UK athletes who finished well in the medals table in Beijing.

London has been especially busy this summer with the Queens Jubilee Celebrations, Olympic Games, Notting Hill Carnival and now the Paralympics, many hostels in London, guesthouse, bed and breakfast and budget hotels have been fully booked, but there are still some budget accommodation in London with availability for holiday makers.
